Description

Philosophical investigation of the principles of creation of human environment, from ancient Greece to the present. The architectural and artistic creation is examined in relation to the natural environment, on the basis of philosophical principles. The shift in the way of interpretation of nature in modernity, was the cause of fundamental changes in the ontology of the work. Main focus is given to the Modern and Postmodern consideration of art and architecture, in relation to schools of thought as the Frankfurt School, Phenomenology, Poststructuralism. The relation between aesthetics and the political/social dimension of the work of art and architecture engages us here in this respect.

Learning Outcomes

After the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

Identify the principles of creation of man-made environment in philosophical terms.

Recognize the conditions which underly the changes in the form of the man-made environment in relation to cultural changes, within a philosophical interpretative framework.

Investigate subjects which the faculty of philosophy accommodates and

Make use of the methodological tools it provides.
